Who we are
Wembley FC consists of players from the Wembley Settlement in Turffontein, Johannesburg. Wembley FC aims to promote social cohesion among community members and to foster healthy habits among the children and young adults of Wembley Settlement. Wembley Settlement is located next to a field of soccer pitches.
Our club consists of four teams: an Under-11, Under-13, Under-17, and an Open (to all ages) team. Football gives young people in our community a safe, constructive way to channel their energy in challenging circumstances. All four of our teams are currently short of basic kit and the equipment required to train and play safely with pride.
This document lays out exactly what we need, an estimate of what it will cost, and how you or your organisation can help — whether through a cash donation, sponsoring a specific item, or simply showing up on one of our community days.

Cleaning equipment
Due to a lack of solid waste removal services to the settlement, refuse has been piling up next to the soccer field. The community would like to clear up the waste to allow players to train and compete with dignity.
At a community meeting on 22 August, two cleaning committees were established. These committees are responsible for organising volunteers for regular cleanups and for taking care of cleaning equipment. The table below indicates the equipment these committees require and an estimated cost.
Since the meeting on 22 August, the cleaning committee has been keeping a cleaning register and performing regular cleaning. The regular cleaning has made a visible difference in the community. The larger cleaning work and clearing the area on the field will require more equipment and bins or a skip, which has been requested from the city.
